MaxLocksPerFile

I have recently needed to increase the values in the MaxLocksPerFile
registry entries
in order to get Access to run certain update queries. I have
a couple of questions about this entry.

- What purpose does it serve?
- How do I know how large to change the values?
- Is there a point at which the size of this entry starts to degrade
performance?
- Should these values be changed back to their default after the queries are
run?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.
