Well I don't know what DIane recommended but you could try a couple fo
things:
1) Drag the mbox directly to Entourage
2) Download TextWrangler (free, barebones.com) and open the mbox in it
by dragging it to the TextWrangler icon. Change the line ending type to
MacOS (lower left corner of the Window) and now try again with
Entourage.

I too cannot import INBOX.mbox from Thunderbird to Entourage...
The file is greyed...
I've tried the tips such as direct drag'n drop onto Entourage or Textwrangler... No way!
The Apple Mail software is able to import the INBOX.mbox without a hitch an no hiccups at all!
Previously, with Entourage 2004 it was doable...

If you export from Apple Mail as MBOX can you import those into Entourage?

I have imported from apple mail as mbox and cannot import into entourage. It is still greyed out. I have also tried drag and drop. I have also tried the fictional import function from the entourage setup and from entourage directly (eg: import from application, Mail). I am quite upset. This is incomprehensible to me, seeing how other quite small programs are able to manage this simple, essential function. What's up MS?

It's not the application but something specific to your setup. Can you
create a small MBOX file with just a couple of messages and send it to me
off list for testing?

Could you provide the solution to the thread, as I'm having the same
problem?

The user had exported a text file instead of an MBOX file in Apple Mail.

In the Menu bar, use Mailbox --> Archive Mailbox instead. This creates
an MBOX file.

See these movies for dealing with MBOX and .rge files.

Hope this helps!

Please don't think I'm being hard on you but when you insert your question
into another thread confusion starts up. Your question has nothing to do
with importing a MBOX file from Apple Mail. Anyone searching this newsgroup
for help wouldn't find anything for .pst files if we replied here plus
adding a separate subject would confuse anyone trying to make sense of the
MBOX issue.

The next time you have a question, please start your own thread. This makes
it easier to follow YOUR problem without getting replies mixed up with
various questions that are often similar but have different solutions.

In the mean time see if this link will help you.

Try to drag and drop them on the Entourage icon in the Dock,

Let's make sure you using the correct selection.

File --> Import

Contacts or messages from a text file

Import messages from an mbox-format text file

What happens when you double click on the file? Does it have .mbox at the
end of the file name? Have you tested in a new Entourage Identity?

Having the same problem with Entourage 2008. I won't import messages from Mac Mail and won't allow selecting a .MBOX file to File/Import. It does import the .MBOX file if you drag and drop the .MBOX file into Entourage. This is happening on OS X 10.5.5. The .MBOX files will import correctly into Mac Mail (they were produced on Windows XP from Outlook 2003 using O2M product. Seems it must be bug in File/Import feature.

No, this isn't a bug. MBOX files cannot be imported into Entourage via
File --> Import. They can be imported via drag and drop.

The problem is that the person reporting he exported .mbox files is
equating them to Entourage archives, which are .rge files. They are not
the same.

If this doesn't answer your question then begin a new thread with
details of your own problem, include your software versions and what
you've tried already to fix the problem.
