mbox files

Due to another issue, I was trying to save mbox files by dragging the folders (with subfolders) from entourage onto the desktop. To the best of my memory, this worked in 2004, but in 2008, subfolders are not preserved. Is this really true? is there any way to export mbox with subfolders?
thanks!

Are you sure this worked in 2004? A mbox file is just a text file with each
message in plain text format with a separator, I don't see how folder
structure could have beenm maintained. To the best of my knowledge it's not
a part of the spec.

You have never been able to get the subfolders when you drag a folder to the
desktop. You can use this script that will get subfolders.

For MBOX files: Run this script on your messages: Export folders (this gets
subfolders too). The script will fail on a folder with corruption.

<http://scriptbuilders.net/files/exportfolders1.1.html>

Note: All folders will get dumped into one folder on your desktop. You will
need specific names for subfolders so you will know where they go when you
drag them back into the folder window.

Thanks Diane,

that looks like a good solution, but I cannot get it to work. I have the script in the correct location, but when it runs, it says I need a folder named "Mail Folders" on the desktop - which I do! I have checked the script ti be sure I have the right name, but the folder is correctly named.

My user account is filevault protected - could this be affecting the script? Or was the a script that worked for 2004 but not 2008?

Thanks
Dan

It works in both versions. Try turning off filevault.
