You'll need to either install the app that created them or get a recovery
utility for the mbx format.

For help with Outlook Express issues, see http://www.insideoe.com/ or visit

mbx format was used by Outlook Express before version 6 by Outlook Express 4 and 5 .
You will need to convert them using OE and as such it is best that you post to an OE
newsgroup for instructions on how to convert mbx to dbx . Then you can think about
getting them into Outlook

Err Vista doesn't have Outlook Express, certainly not the old version that
used mbx files.
How did you "recover" emails into mbx files in the first place?

The OP mentioned Vista. Vista doesn't HAVE OE so I'm wondering where these
"mbx" files came from...

So as the OP mentioned VISTA, which doesn't have OE at all, I wonder where
these "mbx" files really came from....

That was kinda my point... but OE is not the only program that creates mbx
files so it could be from some other program.

Absolutely. However the only other /common/ one I know of is Eudora...

i wasnt using OE it was windows mail.! I had previously recovered OE emails
into the windows mail on vista so some of them were originally OE but ALL the
recovered emails are .mbx I used "recover my filed" cd to recover them.

Just desperately need them into either windows mail again or outlook or
anything that I can use for them.

They should be dbx files. If you have mbx files, you have the wrong ones.

Load them into Windows Mail again.

Then they were not created by any current Outlook Express.
