MDAC Corruption

I have MDAC corruption and I can't reinstall MDAC. When
I try to install MDAC 2.8 I get a message back telling me
that this version is already installed with windows. I
am assuming SP2 for XP did this. I really hate this
service pack. It has caused more problems than helped.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

I would try installing MDAC 2.7 and then reinstalling 2.8
