MDB compacting and maintenance

Chris P.

Hi,

I am having a Windows 2000 server that share tens to
hundreds of different version of Access databases 95, 97,
2000, 2002 to virtual web sites.

Some were created by Jet with DSN, but some are stored in
sites /data folders and were created by users.

I would like to use a tool to check their integrity and
compact them regardless the version. On long run I would
like to create a script.

I knot about msJet compact tool, but I don't know if is
version depended. Is it?

Is there any way to find from mdb file with which version
of Access was created?

Thank you,

Chris P.

Compact within Access is version dependent. However, there is a JetComp.exe
file that may be used to compact a database and I believe it is not version
dependent. This file should be downloadable from Microsoft; just exercise a
search for JetComp.

I'm pretty sure FMS have a tool for this. See www.fmsinc.com.
