I get a message "C:\My Documents\QHS Msiling" is not a valid path when I try
to open in Vista.

Same file opens in WinXP.

How can I make it open in Vista, short of installing WinXP?

Vista requires it to be a Trusted Site.
Try this --
To trust your folder, click:
* Office Button (top left)
* Access Options (bottom of dialog)
* Trust Center (left)
* Trust Center Settings (button)
* Trusted Locations (left)â—
* Add new location (button)

Vista doesn't use "My Documents" for the user's personal documents folder.
In Vista, that folder is:

C:\Users\{user name}\Documents
