.mdb files and Office Vx

I have been sent a number of ".mdb" files which appear to have been
created in Microsoft Access. They have word icons but Word only opens
them as rubish. I am given a screen requesting the form to open the
file. I have chosen text but it does not work. Is there a trick to
opening these files. I only a printable form of tthese files. I also
tried excel without success.

You can't open it successfully on a Mac. Couple of things to try:

1) See if your correspondent will export the data in a format that
XL will read. See
