MDE access2003 vs 2002

We upgraded to Access2003 from Access2002.

I created an mde but now, after entering user name and password, the screen
has the window with the forms, reports, queries... Even though the forms and
reports are not available in design mode, this was not happening in Access
2002.

Also, if I get out of the window then I am completely out of Access. How can
I get the mde to run like it did in Access2002? What I want is if someone
double-clicks on the mde, they will key in their name and password and get a
blank screen with the application toolbar.

If the action that I should be taking includes AllowBypassKey, please explain
in further details.

Thanks so much.

Sounds like you had set the startup options in 2002. Tools, Startup and set toolbars/menubars/startupform, and choose to hide the database window.

Hi,

I just go to work now. Perfect solution. Thanks so much.

Oops. Spoke too soon. Maybe until you read this I will get out of the
problem, but right now I do not get the database window in the mdb and F11
doesn't help. I guess I was supposed to change the startup options in the
mde after it is created?

I had also unchecked the special Access Keys options in the box. That, too,
might be a problem.

I am working on it...

Hi,

Okay. I checked the "Use Access Special Keys" box and the database window no
longer appears when opening the mde but does appear if the mdb.

I would appreciate it if you would be able to help answer the following
questions:
1) how do I hide the Menu Bar in the mde?
2) is there anyway to disable the F11 key for the mde?

The second question is less important because even if the user sees the
database window, he cannot edit any of the queries (the standard mde
"security").

Thanks.

The application must have a main menu bar. If you don't want users seeing
the default one then create a custom one and make that the app's menu in the
startup properties.
2) is there anyway to disable the F11 key for the mde?

Disabling "Access Special Keys" in startup disables the F11 key.
The second question is less important because even if the user sees

MDE only prevents the editing of code-based objects (forms, reports,
modules). It does nothing to stop design changes to tables or queries.

I wasn't at work yesterday. Sorry for the delay in replying.

I understand the F11 reply.

As to hiding the Menu Bar, my autoexec macro is the same as it was before (in
Access2002). In other words, the macro is defined to open the created
toolbar and not the database or form view menu. In Access2003 when the mde
is opened, just the created toolbar appears.

That is not the situation in Access2003.

Am I missing out on something? I also tried deleting the database and form
view menu statement in the macro and it didn't help.

Thanks for your response.
