MDW file,, No password prompt

I have created a secured database following the steps from
MS white pages and most everyth9ing has gone as expected.
The problem I have is that when I open the .mdw file I am
not prompted for a password. It seems as if anyone would
be able to open this file and change settings. Is there
something obvious I'm missing here? Thanks for your help.

Have you tried to open the MDW file and change settings? You can't. You
have to be using a different MDW file as your workgroup when you open
another MDW as a database so the MDW cannot "secure itself", but as far as I
know there is nothing user changeable in an MDW file and the security stuff
is encrypted.

If one MDW needed to be secured with another MDW then THAT MDW would need to
be secured by yet another one and the chain would never stop.

Believe you cannot make changes to this file unless you have admin rights.
You are safe from the typical user. Not even sure you an change the file
except through the menus/wizards which controls what is changed, who can
change, and how. To convince yourself you are safe, create a copy and try to
change it. Have a user try to change it.
