Meaning of prompt

In attempting to hide or group columns in a specific sheet, I am prompted -
"cannot shift objects off sheets" - what does this mean? How should I resolve?

Do yourself the favour to click <Ctrl><End>, and see where you end up. Most
likely on the last available column of your worksheet. If this is
unintended, then select and delete all column from here to just to the right
of the last column in your worksheet, save the file, and try again.
