Hi all,
I scanned the group for more information on how project and task
priorities work, but was unable to clear up one question.
Project priority always supercedes task priority in Project 2k7.
However, what if two projects have the same priority? For example, I
have Project A and Project B, both of them have a Project Priority of
500. Within each of the plans I have varying priorities on particular
tasks. If I schedule and level them both at the same time, will
Project recognize that they are equal priority and level resources at
a priority between the two plans, or will it simply treat each plan
separately as far as priority for leveling goes?
I'll try to illustrate, since that is somewhat confusing to read.
Project A - Priority 500
Task 1 - Priority 800
Task 2 - Priority 300
Project B - Priority 500
Task 1 - Priority 400
Task 2 - Priority 700
If I insert both of these projects into a Master and schedule/level,
will project consider Task 1 of Project A a higher priority than Task
1 of Project B? The other option I can see is that project will treat
priority only within each plan. So Task 1 would be higher than task 2
in Project A, and task 2 would be higher than Task 1 in Project B, but
Project would treat all tasks between the two projects equally, since
they are both ranked at 500.
Thank you for any responses,
Mike
