Media Clip Organiser

Dear Experts,
I hope you can help with a problem. I think it is a
general MS Office issue not PowerPoint related. Hence my
question in this forum.
MPEG2 video clip edited on a desktop. WXP.
Imports perfectly into Media Clip Organiser, and first
frame of video shows as the incon.
Dropped into PowerPoint 2003 and plays perfectly with a
normal video start.
Video transfered onto laptop WXP and PP2003.
Black icon shows up on Media Clip Organiser, but can be
dropped into PP.
And when video plays in PP it starts off as a black screen.
Could you please point me in the right direction so the
icon will show the first frame of the footage and not a
black screen.
Many thanks - Peter

Sorry forgot to mention it is Office 2003

Also that the black icon in the Media Clip Organiser has
now turned into a standard Windows Media Player logo at
the centre where the image should be.

Please help.

Many thanks - Peter

Thank you for your message Mary, but unfortunately that is
not the problem. I always have my laptop on full power and
the problem occurs on mains electricity as well.

First, I'd skip the Clip Organizer when inserting the video and use
Insert/Movies and Sounds/Movie From File instead.

As for the black screen, here's what MS has to say about it:

I'm surprised that, even though the MPEG plays on both machines, you get a
black intro screen on one but not on the other. Only thing I can think of is
it's an MCI setting issue in the registry. You can check
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm for more
info; the screenshots will be helpful if you want to change your registry
settings to match these.
