Media Edition vs Home Edition

I am considering the purchase a new computer. Most are loaded with Media
Edition. Will if work as a normal computer, ie. searches, email, Quicken, etc?

I have been told it will only do photos, TV, music.

Please help. Thanks

The media edition is wondows XP plus media software. So anything that runs
on Win XP will run on the media edition.

media edition is based upon xp-pro and not xp-home. It works just fine as a
basic computer and is probably more stable than xp-home. Since most of them
are coming out set for multimedia it will probably have a better default set
of hardware.
