Hi all,
This is a machine running Win2000 sp4, Office2000, Media Player 9, and
Outlook2003 connecting to Exchange 2003. It is current with all critical
patches.
When the user receives an e-mail with a movie attachment (ie .mpg or .avi)
and tries to open it, Media Player launches as expected. The problem is that
it plays only the audio. Instead of showing the video content, it shows the
visualization.
If the user saves the attachment to his drive, the movie opens and plays
correctly in Media Player. This problem occurs ONLY when opening the movie
from Outlook.
I have tried deleting the .ost cache file and creating a new one. I also
tried removing and reinstalling Media Player 9.
When I log into the machine with my own account and access my own mailbox, I
am able to open movie attachments from Outlook with no problem. This leads me
to think the problem lies somewhere within the user's profile, but I can't
think of where else to look. I have gone over the various IE and Outlook
security settings but that hasn't made a difference.
I would appreciate any ideas as to what else I can try.
Cheers
