Meeting cancellation does not remove the appointment from the cale

Scenario: I get a meeting appointment from someone and accept it. I get a
meeting cancellation and click the 'Remove from calendar' button in the
cancellation notice. It does not remove it from the calendar.

I have to go into the calendar and delete it manually.

I am running Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 SP2 and the O.S. is Xp
Professional version 5.1.2600 SP2 Build 2600.
