Meeting requests show as ICS file attachments

We are using Outlook 2003, and the user said the only chages that were made
to the system was the installation of iTunes 6.01 recently, and since then
DISASTER!

But when the ICS file attachment is opened, it comes up as:

This error can appear if you have attempted to save a recurring Lunar
appointment in iCalendar format.

To avoid this error, set the appointment option to Gregorian instead of
Lunar.

More information about this error message online.

But when I check the callendar settings in Outlook, it is set to English,
Gregorian! Same can be said for the senders end (outlook 2003 on the senders
computer).

So any help from you guys would be much appreciated :)

Thank you in advance,

Chris

Is it only happening on this particular user's machine? If so, try
uninstalling iTunes temporarily (no real business need for it) and see if
the problem goes away. Recent iPods allow for syncing with Outlook so
something may have been touched. Also, is this the only appointment they're
having problems with or are there others?

Okie dokie, here is all the info I can give:

Build number:

Microsoft Outlook 2003 Small Business Edition 2003 (11.6359.6360)

User is on windows XP sp2

When the invite is sent it arrives as AT00032.ics or similar....when trying
to open or save the file it says:

"could not import iCalendar file" and contains The error:

This error can appear if you have attempted to save a recurring Lunar
appointment in iCalendar format.

To avoid this error, set the appointment option to Gregorian instead of
Lunar.

More information about this error message online.

The iTunes that was installed was iTunes 6.0.1.3

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Chris

Interesting....when I try to open the ICS file, it is 0 bytes in size and
contains nothing!

But when it is an attachment in outlook, it says (99b) after the filename.

Could this be the problem? that his outlook is creating corrupt ICS files?

Did you save it as a file to your hard drive first, then open it in Notepad?

Yep, saved it to my desktop, then tried to open with notepad, but it was
empty when I opened it.

99b is a VERY small file size anyway....im stumped!
