MegaStat.xla error: Compile error in hidden module

P

Paul

Greetings:
I'm unable to open an Excel extension that accompanies a college
textbook titled "Statistical Techniques in Business and Economics" by
McGraw-Hill in Excel:mac v.X. The file is MegaStat.xla and I receive
the following error: Compile error in hidden module: ThisWorkbook.

Why isn't this file compatible with Excel:mac v.X? Is there a way to
open this file on my Mac?

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your
reply.

Can't tell for sure, but since M-H's website says MegaStat.xla is
compatible with XL5, there's an outside chance that installing

VBA Converter for Excel X
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx

If not, I'd guess that the authors used ActiveX controls, which are
a Windows-only technology.

Another possiblity is that the add-in is aware of versions, looks at
XLv.X's version (10), and assumes that it's running WinXL02, which
has VBA6.. All Mac versions have VBA5.0, so instructions new to VBA6
will not compile.

If it's either of those, you won't be able to open the add-in using
MacXL. If it's not, I'd have to see the code to hazard a guess.

You might contact the authors to see for certain...
