Memo field truncated when published to Word

D

David Carnes

Hello all:
Trying to help out a friend of a friend, and here is what she's got:
Access 2000, Word 2000
Report based on a simple query against a table. (I'd guess she created the
query just to get the fields she wanted in the report.)
A couple of memo fields in the table. The fields are on the report, with
their "Can Grow" property set to "Yes." In Access, the report looks great.
She's got some grouping levels, but everything looks good.
The trouble occurs when the report is published to MS Word. The data in the
memo fields "wrap" in a smaller space (not as wide) than is on the report.
Then the space doesn't "grow" vertically to accomodate the loss of space in
the width. It is not a case of the margins being too narrow, as the Word
document does a good job of inheriting them from the report, plus there are
other data fields above the memo fields that appear in the right place. So
it's quite a visual clue that the memo fields are wrapping sooner in the
Word document.

I've tried several things (making the Detail larger, increasing the space
the Memo field takes up, etc.) and have actually managed to make the Memo
fields lose more data. (!!!!!!!!!!)
It seems like a bug, but I could be wrong. Any guidance is appreciated.

TIA,
Dave
