memory error

I am using Word 97. I have a custom normal.dot that has
been working fine for 2 years. I am now trying to use
several templates with check boxes, and when a click the
check boxes, I recieve this error: The instruction
at "0x3070aea5" referenced memory at "0x03be3004". The
memory cound not be "written". If I revert to the
standard normal.dot, I do not have the problem. I have
searched the MVP FAQ and have not found a solution.

It's possible that your custom normal.dot has become damaged. With Word
closed, rename your custom normal.dot, start Word (Word will create a new
normal.dot), and copy your customizations from your custom normal.dot to the
new normal.dot by clicking on Tools | Templates and Addins | Organizer.

I have already tried this approach and it did not work.
Any other ideas? I have about 200 people that use my
custome normal.dot and the only problem we are having is
with the form checkboxes. I can create a form with only 1
check box, and as soon as I click on it, I get the error
message.

We have found that this error was caused becasue the
person who developed the template used the forms tools,
and did not "lock" the form after it was created. Once we
Locked the form, we no longer recieved the error message.
