memory errors-word 2001 wont start on mac

I am using word 2001 on mac os 9.2. When I open word i get an error: not
enough memory or disk space to run word. The memory pref. is 20,000k and my
virtual memory is on and is 513M. I also got memory errors from opening a
document, now it wont start.
Can anyone help me with this or do I just need to reinstall word. If I do
that, do I need to reinstall all of microsoft office?

While the way to find it may be different on a MAC, it's still likely a bad
normal.dot file. See:
