Memory woes

I'm working on a document that integrates Excel data, charts, and Word.
I was using my iBook G4 with 512 MB of RAM, and it kept crapping,
giving me low memory warnings and quitting on me. I transferred it to
my wife's PowerBook G4 with 1 GB of RAM, and everything worked fine. So
I loaded up my iBook, and now I have 1.5 GB of RAM. I'm still getting
memory warnings, and the programs still keep quitting on me! What is
going on?

BTW, my iBook is running OS X 10.4.6, and my wife's PowerBook is
running 10.2.x.

How much free hard drive space is available on your wife's PowerBook?

Jim --

Not sure at the moment, but a lot -- I'd say well over 20 GB. My iBook
has about 7 GB left.
