Would it be advisable to upgrade my machine to 1 gig of
Ram to rung a 60 meg spreadsheet? Or would it be better
with 2 gig

Depends a little on your Excel version, but in general Excel can only use a
pre-determined 'pool' of memory to operate with so increasing your ram above
a certain level makes no difference to individual workbooks.
