What I really need is a vertical menu with drop
down "spacing" sub-menu's. (?)

i.e. If you main menu consisted of;

The sub-menus drop down on mouseover the "main" menu item,
are slightly indented and most importantly PUSH the other
main menu items down the page to make room when viewed,
then collapse back should your mouse move off the sub-menu.

This is similar to Jon Spivey's neat menu tutorial, but I
would prefer the menu stay in the menu are rather than
popping out (right) and intruding on the main content
area. At least I'd like it to work that way.

Thanks for any advice!

Take a look at www.rxs-enterprises.com/fp/faq/bticat_demo.htm
This is loosely based on another of Jon Spivey's menu ideas from two or
three years ago.
Note that onclick seems better than onmouseover.

This menu works in IE5.0+ (not tested in older versions), Opera 7. Fails
gracefully in NN4+, Mozilla, Opera4+, Lynx2.8
Crashes Konqueror.

Thanks Ronx, unfortunately this menu is close to what I need but flawed

Going from menu item one to two takes you to last. Also it is a bit jerky, but thanks for the suggestion

Regards
