I have my database setup so that on startup, without pressing the shift
button, the database starts without the database window and without full menu
bar. I do this so that my users cannot easily screw things up. The only
problem is that they cannot access the "Export" function under "File" which
is necessary for exporting graphs.

Is there any way that I can keep the same minimized menu bar on startup but
add the "Export" feature? Or better yet could I simply add "Export" to the
quick toolbars instead? For example, "Office Links" from the toolbar allows
one to export to Word and Excel but graphics, such as a graph cannot be
"linked" to a Microsoft Program.

I've tried customizing the menu bar but this makes changes to the menu bar
regardless of how one starts up the program. I want the menu bar to have
minimized/customized features only for those who startup without pressing the

You don't want to customize an existing Menu or Toolbar because such a change
would only show up on your machine. Make a totally new Menu bar with whatever
controls you want on it and set that as the Application Main Menu in the Startup
settings. Then it will appear any time you use that app and on all PCs doing
so.

Thank you. This helps. However, for the life of me, I cannot figure out how
to make a new menu bar. I searched using the Help menu, searched through
Options, Customize and others and still can't figure this out. Where do I
start to create a customized menu bar?

Right-Click on any exsting toolbar or menu and choose "Customize". The
resulting dialog has a button labelled "New".

window shows something for adding or changing toolbards, one thing for
commands and another called "Options".

I see in "Startup..." window that it allows you to choose the menu bar to
show at startup, but again I still don't see how you create a menu. I don't
see anything in the "Customize" window that allows you to create a new menu
bar, name it and add the features that you want. I have, however, been able
to change the exisitng menu bar. But, I want to make a special menu bar for
startup. I have a fairly good command of many of the development features of
Access, but this simple one I can't get.

After you create a new command bar you can go into its properties and
specify whether it should be of type "Toolbar", "Menu Bar", or "Popup".
