Hey everyone. I bought a copy of Microsoft Office in France, thinking that I would be able to change the language settings to English. When I found out that I could not change the language settings to English, I managed to exchange the French Office for a copy of the American Office. But after I installed the American version of Office, some parts of my menu and toolbars are still in French for Microsoft Word. For example, it says "palette de mise en forme" insteade of "Formatting Palette" and a lot of toolbars under View->Toolbars are listed in French. Is there any way to fix this?

There are two factors that can induce that:
- Preference files from the previous version
- System settings for the region and language of your Mac.

You should trash all preference files that might be inherited from the
previous installation, and you should double-check the settings of the
International Prefpane (especially the format one) to have everything
set to US.

Thanks for the reply! But I'm a bit of a novice here. How do I go about trashing those preference files and double-checking the settings of the international prepane?

Well for the preferences, they are in ~/Library/Preferences (the one in
your user account). You have a whole set of them with a name starting
with com.microsoft and another on in a Microsoft subfolder.

The International PrefPane is in the System Preferences (In the Apple
Menu).

You can select the language for the MacOS X user interface there. You
can also set the format of a lot of things. I would suggest making sure
your interface is set to English and select the US for the region for
the formats.
