Merge Address book (.wab file) into word template

I have completed a transmittal template for our office and am trying to
have the ability to click in a box that would direct me to our address
book we have set up. I want to have the ability to pick a persons name
and have all their information (address, city, state, etc.) to fill in
automatically. Rather than typing all the information each time. Is
their any way to accomplish this? I am assuming mail merge is the way
to do this but dont know how.......any help would be greatly
appriciated. Thanks

Unfortunately, neither of the methods available in Word for getting address
data (Word's Insert Address feature, and mail merge) can get data /directly/
from the Outlook Express address book (WAB). So as far as I know the only
way to do this is to keep the OE WAB open and either
a. drag-drop the entry from the address book, then remove all the stuff you
do not want, or
b.select the entry you want, export it to a delimited text file, then use
that file as the data source for your merge. There are more details at

Neither of those is a simple process, but if you have to use .wab I suppose
(b) is probably the better option. If you happen to have OE and Outlook 98
or Outlook 2000 set up in "Internet" mode with a shared address book, you
/may/ be able to get the addresses via another route but it doesn't sound
from your description as if the full Outlook is in the picture at all.
