Merge data files

OSX version 10.2.6 Office x for Mac v 10.1.2
When I try to Get Data in Data Merge Manager from an existng data
source I get the following message "This merge document contains
outdated sorting information. Word is removing it."
The Merge Field indicates "No data."
Can anyone help please?
