I posted the following on July 25th last and have had absolutely no
response. Am I the only one with such a problem?

OSX version 10.2.6 Office x for Mac v 10.1.2
When I try to Get Data in Data Merge Manager from an existng data
source I get the following message "This merge document contains
outdated sorting information. Word is removing it."
The Merge Field indicates "No data."
Can anyone help please?

Greetings Jim,

Thanks for your offer to help and apologies in taking so long to reply.
As I had despaired of solving my problem, I have been attempting to
reconstruct the steps I had originally taken months ago before giving
up.

My data source is Sheet 1 of an Excel list of names, addresses, phone
numbers, etc. in which the field names (headers) are in row 1 and the
data is in columns under the relative headers, the overall range being
A1:K93.

In Word I open Data Merge Manager from the Tools drop down list. In
the Main Document section I choose to create labels and in Label
Options I choose my custom label. Next, in Data Source > Get Data, I
choose Open Data Source and in Choose a File Window, I select my
Excel list file and click Open. At that point the arrow cursor changes to
a wristwatch and in the Open Document in Workbook box of the Open
Worksheet window I choose Sheet 1 and in the Cell Range box I enter
the range of cells, A1:K93. On clicking the OK button a window appears
stating, "This merge document contains outdated sorting information.
Word is removing it." after which I am at an impasse and can proceed
no further.

If you can help, I would much appreciate it.

I do for one. Using my special powers of esp, I know exactly what steps
you took to get the error message, and I have the exact details of the
existing data source and I'll never make the same mistake.

Where would I be without your help?
