I don't understand. But it sounds as if this has nothing to do with MAIL merge?

In that case, you need to post in a different newsgroup, maybe in docmanagement. Be SURE to mention which version of Word you're using. And describe how you're "merging" the documents. Also, XE has
nothing to do with tables (Table of Contents?), that's for indexes. You need to get your terminology straight so that people can understand what you're about.

Thanks for your response. Here is my question:

I am using Word 97 to create contracts with mail merge. Normally I merge more than 2 records from database into a new document, which has two different contracts. Sometimes there are more than 200 records, so we merge these contracts to one new document for easy print and storage. The problem is that we have table contents in each contract, I wish I could code the table content in the main document. While I am doing merging, I expect all the table contents with correct page number in each contract in the new document could be updated. If this is plausible, I believe this will improve the repagination for each contract. Because there are many variables in the document and also I need to add more conditions to control repagination, the code in my main document turns to be a little more complicated which takes more time for testing. Any idea is very appreciated! Thanks!

Ok, we're talking about table OF contents? so the merge result in a new
document has multiple tables of contents, and these aren't being updated
properly? wrong page numbers?

Could you please give us a more concrete example of the page numbers you're
getting, and what you expect?

Thanks again first. I am talking about table of contents in merge document. Here I am looking for some better way to update table content if there are more than 2 table of content in the merged document. If this could be improved, it will save me some time for testing repagination of different contracts.

For example, if I merge 10 records to get one new document with 10 contracts. I print 10 contracts from the same document and distribute to different persons. For each contract, there is a table content, which means there are 10 tables of content in the new merged document. I am thinking if I could program the table of content in the original document ( with merge fields) to make each table of content in the 10 contracts be updated automatically. I don't know if this is clear enough. Overall I wish to update mutiple tables of content based on each contract itself page break in merge document in order to reduce my repagination problem because of different condition control causing different page break problems.
