Merge Excel files into Project

Hi

I used Project 2000 before and was able to easily merge
excel files into a project. When I perform the same
procedure on Project 2002 it seems to take a very long
time and sometimes hangs indefinitely. Is there a
setting I need to look at to get this to work properly?
