merge field formats

We are merging a field that is coming from and Excel
document. It is a numeric field and in Excel it is
formatted to 2 decimals places. However, when the field
is merged into the Word document it appears to about 10
decimals places. Is it possible to format the merge
field to 2 decimal places?

Use Alt-F9 to look at your field codes in Word. Where you have e.g.

{ MERGEFIELD mynumber }

change it to

{ MERGEFIELD mynumber \#"0.00" }

These formatting "switches" are described in Word Help

I used this option quite a lot in a Word2002 environment where I use these
codes. The document is working correct, but after opening in Word 2003 I
don't get the correct formatting. Everything appears just as if there is no
formatting applied!

Any Ideas?

Found the solution myself,

It had something to do with the regional settings, I've changed them to
Dutch and now everything is working again.
The original machine had dutch as well, but my new machine was running
english regional settings with some manual made modifications....

Thanx anyway,

Marcel
