'Merge It with Microsoft Word' greyed out

I have an application built in Access 2002 which end users run on the Access
Runtime.

When previewing a report, the OfficeLinks icon in the toolbar is always
greyed out...

They have a full Office version installed on their PC (various versions
tried out).

On my development PC where I'm running the app in full msaccess, the
OfficeLinks icons are enabled and functional.

What can I do enable this functionality in my runtime app?

"Merge It with Microsoft Word" is not available for reports, whether one is
using the retail version or the Runtime version of Access. The other
"Office Links" buttons are available, though.
What can I do enable this functionality in my runtime app?

Open the query instead of the report. The query can use "Merge It with
Microsoft Word."

Hmm... Not agree with you there...!

On my PC, where I have a full msaccess version installed, it works! (with a
report!)

So my guess it that it has to do with Access Runtime not aware of which full
version office programs is installed...? Or how to lauch them...

"Merge It with Microsoft Word" is always disabled for reports. However, the
other two "Office Links," "Publish It With Microsoft Word" and "Analyze It
With Microsoft Excel" are available for reports, whether one is using the
retail or the runtime version of Access whenever Word and Excel have been
installed on the workstation.

Perhaps you are confusing one of these with "Merge It"? The "Publish It"
icon looks mighty similar.

You are so right...!

"Publish It" it is, but it's still greyed out...

So, on a PC with full Office installed + my app running in access runtime,
'Pubish It with Microsoft Word' is grey...

Any ideas?

I don't give users of the runtime app the option to open queries...! The can
only user forms and see previews of reports.

You do now -- _if_ you want them to be able to merge it with Word. They
would see the query results anyway, whether in the report or in Word, so
it's not like you need to hide this data from them.
