Merge Labels

I have tried for several hours to create a label merge
using both an existing main doc and creating a new doc.
However, when I try to merge the list (source doc) with
the label merge doc, I get a message that the 'Title'
MergeField was not found in header record of data source.
The merge also rearranges the way the info is presented
on the label and also leaves out some fields. I have
printed out and read just about everything I can on Word
2002 merge fields and problems, and followed instructions
dutifully, and nothing seems to clear up the problem.
HELP! This is a hair-puller.
