Merge loses records when printing

I am printing a directory by merging data from Excel into a Word document.
After the merge is complete, the record that is right at the page break is
lost. I can't tell if it's dropping at the bottom of the page, or the top of
the next page, or why.

How do you have the mailmerge main document set up? Is it a Directory type
main document which is what used to be called a Catalog main document in
versions of Word before XP?

With a Directory or Catalog type mail merge main document, there should be
no <<Next Record>> fields anywhere in the document.

If you have your catalog set up as a FormLetter or Label type mailmerge main
document, you do not need a <<Next Record>> field before the first
Mergefield in the document, and where they are required, they should always
be located before the mergefields, not after. If you have a FormLetter or
Label type mailmerge maindocument set up and you have the <<Next Record>>
field after the last mergefields on the page, a record will be skipped on
every page break, because a next record command is automatically applied at
the pagebreak.
