Merge multiple mdb files

Is there an easy way to merge multiple mdb files? I have 50 databases with
the identical tables and references that I now need to merge into a single
mdb file. These were from multiple sites, and now are coming together. I have
looked at append queries and now unions. Optimally, I wouldn't even have to
open any of the 50 mdb files, I am confident that the database structures are
identical. I just need to pull them all into 1.

Thanks.

I can merge your multiple mdb files for you for a modest fee. I provide help
with Access, Excel and Word applications for a reasonable fee. If you would
like my help, contact me.

For money Steve? Are you JOKING? Besides, I thought this forum was
for FREE support...

If the files are all in one directory, then you can do something like
this:
1. create a set of linked tables to one database (doesn't matter which
one)
2. create a set of append queries to copy the new records to the final
database
3. loop through the directory (Get Allen Browne's code on his website.
www.allenbrowne.com)
4. run your append queries inside the loop.

If that's over your head, post back and I'll explain further.

It can be done; whether it's easy or difficult (or an absolute nightmare)
depends on the structures of the databases. What gets difficult is having
Autonumber primary keys (which will be duplicated between the databases)
linked to long integer foreign keys in other tables.

If you DON'T have this situation you're lucky - you can pick one database as
the master (or create a new one); use File... Get External Data... Link to
link to each of the fifty in turn (manually or programmatically), and run
append queries to merge the data.

If you DO have duplicate primary/foreign key values you'll need to get
trickier, and the details will of course depend very much on your structure.

Before you take Steve up on his offer... check into his background. He's
notorious in the groups for trolling for paid work in these FREE support
forums. See http://home.tiscali.nl/arracom/whoissteve.html.

John,

You have both Steve and Aaron taking swings at you (and missing) on the same
post!

You must be doing something right.

Be sure to explain why you changed your screen name from PC Datasheet.

Your own words make the case against you in link after link. If you have so
much trouble finding work that you have to offer your cut-rate services in
this forum it's hard to see how you are in any position to initiate, let
alone sustain a lawsuit.

Soliciting work in this free forum is not appropriate. It's exactly that
simple.

These newsgroups are provided by Microsoft for FREE peer to peer support.
Steve is a known troll who likes to ignore this fact and pester posters for
work. There are many highly qualified professionals who gladly offer very
professional advice for free. Steve is not one of them and offers
questionable services at questionable prices.

eat shit stalker

building webpages-- talking shit about people
writing letters to employers
calling the police because you're a little sissy pants..

I mean whatever _STALKER_

eat shit, and stop stalking anyone that thinks differently than you.

Microsoft doesn't _OWN_ Usenet.

You're fucking stupid if you think that you can dictate terms.

I agree-
I've had enough of these dipshits trying to bull anyone that thinks
differently.

Just because your usenet client has some guidelines-- or
recommendations-- it doesn't mean that MVP guys should follow around
anyone with a clue, and harrass them.

Actually, I've been following the Steve and AaronShow for a fairly long time
now, being retired and a having lot of time on my hand, and I believe, and
have for quite some a while, that Steve and Aaron are actually one and the
same!

I rather doubt it. Very different styles and areas of interest. Maybe they
should get together - Aaron could teach Steve about using SQL/Server and ADP
and give him some more arrows for his quiver.

A

aaron.kempf

Oh, I _GUARANTEE_ that the MVPs run around- making fake accounts, and
posting under fake names..

it's all good though.. It just makes Microsoft look like a bunch of
fucking idiots because they think that these dipshits (clinging to a
sinknig ship) are actually _VALUABLE_ I mean what a fucking joke

I think it's actually insulting to Steve to discuss him in the same
sentence with Aaron.

Aaron is a mentally unbalanced lunatic.

Steve is just socially-challenged, but actually somewhat competent
(though rather naive in many respects). I wish he wouldn't solicit
work where he's not supposed to, and I wish he were more experienced
than he is, but he often offer useful help to others (though
frequently it's flawed by a commercial solicitation).

Aaron has never ever offered any advice that is worth the time it
takes to read it.

And so far as I know, Steve is not a convicted stalker.

A

aaron.kempf

a) I wasn't convicted.. Nice try.
b) I'm not mentally unbalanced. I jsut had a lying corrupt pig that
broke the law in fucknig with my life
c) My advice-- a sliver of my advice-- is worth more than all the
advice that you've ever given.. you're the dipshit that's been
insisting that Jet Replication can solve world hunger.. and all of a
sudden-- OH SHIT THEY PULLED THE JET REPLICATION FUNCTIONALITY _OUT_
OF ACCESS 2007

**** you david.. I'm certified DBA.
You're just a fucking dipshit that's stuck on a sinking ship

Your piece of shit ass database isn't reliable enough for a single
record and a single user.

Anyone with a clue moved to SQL Server a long time ago.. Just because
that isn't the most popular opinion _IN_THIS_NEWSGROUP_ that doesn't
mean that Jet is somehow a viable option.

You-- and anyone else sellign Jet solutions for any reason-- are a
fucking scam artist.

Isn't it interesting that MVPs find fault when an offer of help is made to a
poster but find no fault with posts selling watches, sneakers and other
direct advertising?

MS filters those posting as soon as they possibly can.

And we don't like you or others directly soliciting work in the newsgroups.

MS doesn't do any filtering for *me*, since I don't use MS's server
for reading the newsgroups. But it's a rather different situation
because those watch ads are completely recognizable as not relevent,
whereas Steve's posts are not so obviously non-relevant.
And we don't like you or others directly soliciting work in the
newsgroups.

....in direct violation of the charters of the newsgroups.
