Merge of MSP 2003 and 2007 cie.

Hi,
Having read the migration documentation, I understand that normal migration
of resources can only be done once, projects can be migrated gradualy.

What happen if I want to merge two enterprises, one is already using MSP
2003 version and the other one has upgraded to MSP 2007 version ?
Can I migrate 2003 resources/projects into the existing 2007 server ?
Do I need to migrate 2003 on a new 2007 server and then, merge the two 2007
servers together ?

Does anyone have suggestion on how to proceed.
Thanks, R.

Hi Rene,
Interesting question. I would import the projects from the 2003 version to
the 2007 version. My concern in migrating across the 2003 db to the existing
2007 db would be migraiton of items such as Enteprise Globals, resources,
security groups etc, ie everything except the project peice. Therefore, the
easiest and clenest way to get the projects on-board will be to import them.
Before you do this, make sure the resoure pool is populated too, or import
the resources using a project.

HI Ben,
Thanks, I understand that we need to "match" the global settings first,
including custom fields, then we can inport the resources and projects.
So, if I understand your suggestion, by saving a project with all resources

Hi Rene,
Any mismatches around custom fields and resources will be highlighted, I'm
not sure about invididual resource calendars though.

I would however not want any of these created on the fly, I would rather do
an assessment of the custom fields, resource names etc on the projects that
need to be imported and make sure they are set up on the 2007 system prior to
import.
