Merge Resources into Single View?

For some reason, on my Project plan some of my resources are listed 2,
and 4 times. So when you do a Resource Usage report you'll end up wit
John Smith listed 3 times and his projects. Is there an easy way t
Merge the 3 John Smiths and his projects together back into one Joh

Hello malexandria,

Are you working with a consolidated (master) project made up of a
number of project plans combined? If so, and each project has the
same resource listed, you should create a Resource pool file and
connect the pool file to the individual project plans. Search
Project help for Resource pools.

If you have only one project file take a look at your resource
sheet. Are there resources listed several times? If so, you'll
need to replace the incorrect "John Smith" with the correct John
Smith. Go to the resource sheet and rename the incorrect Smith so
it is easy to view his tasks. Select all tasks in the project,
click the Assign resources button, select "Incorrect John Smith"
click Replace and in the Replace dialog box, select the correct John
Smith. Repeat as necessary to re-assign the correct resources.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

It's a master sheet with different products being managed by 5 different
managers. All of the resource names are spelled correctly. So I'm not
sure how to go about replacing the two John Smiths. I was hoping there
was a way I could just select the three and click a merge button
somewhere.

No, sorry no "magic merge" button. Again, take a look in help and
find the help topic "create a resource pool for sharing resources
across projects" -- it's pretty quick and easy particularly if your
resources are named identically.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
