Merge to secure Access Database

D

Debbie

I have a form letter which uses information from a secure
access database as its source. When I open the form file,
I am prompted for the database log-in, which is fine,
however, I have to log in twice before the file opens. If
I make changes to the selection criteria, I again have to
log in (3rd time) and when performing the merge, I again
have to log-in (4th time). And again, when I go to close
the form file, I have to log in for the 5th time before
the document will close. I end up with the access
database open 5 separate times, which is excessive to say
the least. Any ideas on how to prevent multiple log-ins
would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Debbie,

Which version of Office are we dealing with?

This sounds like it might be 97 or 2000? And a DDE
connection to the Access UI... Have you (or someone else)
set a custom caption for the Access window's title bar?

The problem with DDE is that it looks for a very specific
caption among loaded applications, and if it can't find it,
the application will be started up again (and again, and
again...) Sometimes, removing that custom caption will get
rid of the problem you describe.
