Merge using MSQuery as data source doesn't allow use of parameters

I created a MSQuery that accesses an Oracle database and I used a parameter
in one of the data field which works fine when running the MSQuery as a
stand alone. But, when I use this query as the data source for the mail
merge in a Word document I get the error "Parameter not allowed for this
query". My question is how do you get a parameter box to open for the entry
of retrieval criteria to limit the merge data? I'm try to do something that
simplifies the process for the end user so they don't have to modify the
select criteria in the actual query.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Paul,

As far as I know, you can't do it this way. Maybe a little VB app, to allow
the parameter input, then link to the data source?

Or a VBA form interface within the mail merge template.
