Merge with Iseries, Word fails to open data source

When seting up merge everything works fine until I say return to word from
MSquey

get error cannot open data source. no reason why.

works fine with word2000, and word2002

Hi,

I have the same problem on an XP PC running Office 2K3 SP2. The message box
with just an OK button appears stating "Word was unable to open the data
source" when connecting to a file on an AS400 using ODBC and MS Query. When
in MS Query, the data shows but when "Return data to Word" selected, error
message appears. Yet on a PC without SP2, I am able to connect to the data
source on the AS400 via MS Query and merge the data into the Word document.
It appears to have broke on my PC when I installed SP2 of Office. The other
PC, where it currently works does not have SP2.

I also still have the problem described in KB 885832 after installing Office
2K3 SP2. This Word document, which cyclicly states it cannot find the data
source is also connected to an AS400 via ODBC and MS Query.

Does anyone (gurus, MVPs, MS employees, etc) have any ideas?
