Merged Dates

You may try making a copy of the entire sheet and doing a
Paste SPecial - Paste Values Only in a second sheet.
Move that sheet to the front page of your workbook and
then continue with the merge and identical field names.

When you paste the values only, it will convert the
numeric data to text and your original worksheet will
remain in tact with sortable and calculable numeric data.

Although other solutions might exist, I just tested this
one. Good lick, let me know how it works out!

Thanks. Thats what I had to do. I am still looking for a
solution though. It seems a little unreasonable that
Office can't deal with dates correctly given the fact
that we set it to use Australian formats.

Anyone else have a way to get it to work as expected?

Just checking - Did you create the Austrailian date
format as a customized date format in Excel or did you go
to Control Panel and set the date in your Regional
Settings?

If you have done both of these, I don't understand the
problem with the nerge either.

Please let me know how things work out! - Mic

Yes. Did both. I don't understand either! I suspect it is
one of those "flaky" things in Office that sometimes
works and sometimes doesn't. If I find a solution or more
info, I'll post it.

Thanks
