Merged letter and made changes to merged letters. Final merged doc

Serena K.

Merged letter and made changes to merged letters. Final merged document has
date in field code and atty wants to change it from Jan 5 to Jan 4. She does
search and replace but the date automatically updates on print, even if we
change that setting.

That's the thing about Date fields they update to the PC's system date.
You'll need to unlink them. The following macro will do that

Sub Macro1()
Dim oField As Field
For Each oField In ActiveDocument.Fields
If oField.Type = wdFieldDate Then
oField.Unlink
End If
Next oField
End Sub

Hi Serena,

In your mailmerge main document, select the date field, press Ctrl-F9 to enclose it in a pair for field braces (eg { 01-05-2010})
and type 'QUOTE' inside the braces, so that you end up with {QUOTE 01-05-2010}. Then run your mailmerge. This will prevent the dates
from updating in the future. It also means a Find/Replace on the dates will work.
