\* MERGEFORMATINET

Can s'one tell me what special purpose has brought MS to
generate a "\* MERGEFORMATINET" in an included picture,
instead of the "\* MERGEFORMAT" ?

I found no description of it on the web.

Thx.

Hi Marco,

The MergeFormatInet is applied when you paste using
'HTML format' from Internet (INET) Explorer through
Edit=>Paste Special, so the switch would be to preserve
the Internet derived formatting information on field
updates when the \* (format) switch is used.

If you copy the URL for the webpage graphic into the
Insert=>Picture=>From File filename field and select the
Insert=>link option it will use the MergeFormat switch
instead in the include picture field.

If this is Word 2002, then what you're seeing is a bug that
occurs when the "update links on save" option is activated
in Tools/Options/General/Web options/Files. This should
only kick in when you save in HTML format, but in Word 2002
it always kicks in. You want to deactivate this option
unless working with web pages.
