Merging Access to Word

I would like to know how to keep the format of a field in merging to Word.
In particular at receipt number field I have formatted thus:

Format - "7-" 0000
Long Integer
New Values - Increment
Indexed - Yes-no duplicates.
I need the number created with this to show up in my word document at at
receipt number - 7-0023 (for instance). When I merge, all I get is the
number 23 - not the whole thing.

Any ideas?

Did set up the mask so it is stored in the field or not. By this I mean when
you set up the form or table there was a question asking if you wanted to
store the data with or without the symbols in your mask.

If not open the form or table in design view click on the field with the
input mask and a click on the input mask you want to use and go through the
steps of adding the input mask on the last step it will ask you if you want
to store the info with the symbols in the maks or not.

Word will only see the "number" 7-0023 as a text field, so you need to make
another field in the db that turns it into text and merge that.

I needed the number to be autoincremental and so I don't get the "mask" option.

OK - so I turned the 7 into a text field - no sweat...but the number 0007
(eg) still will not translate to word. It shows in the merged document as 7
....1 digit instead of 0007 - 4 digits. I can't turn that receipt number 0007
into text because it needs to increment automatically.
