Merging an excel data file into word.

P

Peter

I am unable to create a from letter with the data fields
located in the document. I used to be able to do this
with other versions of word by selecting the database and
then "insert word field", but with office XP, the choices
are unreltated to my database. Or when going down
another path, when I go to insert the data field, I get
the data and not the "field" indicator.

I've been screwing around with this for the last hour and
find that help is quite useless. Has something changed
in Office XP that I don't know about that makes it more
difficult to merge documents than ever before.

I'd appreciate any help I can get

Hi Peter,

If you open the View menu and select Toolbars and click on the Mailmerge
toolbar, you will get a toolbar with all the buttons you need without having
to use the mailmerge wizard. On this toolbar, click the button with << >>
and ABC underneath it and you should see the fields rather than the data.

Hope this helps
