Merging customer file with multiple orders

Let's say I have the following excel file that has NAME (custome
account name), ORDER # and order DATE. (I can convert this to an Acces
file if better for my application...)

As you can see, some account names have more than one order number an
respective order date. I am wanting to merge all orders for eac
account to a Word template in a way that compiles a table list of al
orders and order dates, rather than having a different letter for eac
account/order #. So my merged letter would look like this:

If this is not possible in Word, I am wondering if I can edit the dat
(excel or access) file so that for each account that has more than on
order, the order #'s and dates are listed out successively in th
account name's row (and duplicate account names/rows are then deleted)
like this:

Hopefully then I would be able to do the merge to Word successfully.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

You can use Word's Catalogue/Directory Mailmerge facility for this (the terminology depends on the Word version). To see how to do so with any mailmerge data source supported by Word, check out my Microsoft Word Catalogue/Directory Mailmerge Tutorial at:
http://lounge.windowssecrets.com/index.php?showtopic=731107
or
http://www.gmayor.com/Zips/Catalogue Mailmerge.zip
The tutorial covers everything from list creation to the insertion & calculation of values in multi-record tables in letters. Do read the tutorial before trying to use the mailmerge document included with it.

For a recent, worked example, see the attachment to post #13 at: mail merge with duplicate names but different dollar amounts
