Merging headers and footers

I am trying to merge a logo, which is my header and an
address line as a footer. I have my template and I am
using an odbc connection to merge the logo which is stored
in another path from the template. Both are on the network.
I have a mergefile.doc which stores the merge fields. I am
using include text. If I use the include text
g:\etc\mergefield ins_name (this is telling word which
logo to pull based on ins name). outside of the header,
the "logo" will merge correctly. If I put it in the
header, the "logo" will not merge. Microsoft said that
this is a limation of word. Do you have any solution as
to a work around?

As far as I know pictures /will/ merge in the header, but
a. if you are using a catalog/directory type merge and the pathname of the
graphic is formed using a { MERGEFIELD filename } field, you may find it
doesn't work because Word will just substitute <<filename>> in that
scenario, rather than the actual filename.
b. if that isn't the problem, you may need to output to a new document and
re-execute all the INCLUDEPICTURE fields to get the pictures to display
properly.
c. there may be differences between Word versions in this area (which
version are you using?)
