Merging Labels to Xcell data base

I am trying to help a friendprint address labels from
Xcell work sheet. She is running Office 98 and OS 9 on
IMAC. I run Office 2000 and have completed this operation
many times by clicking on Tools ,Mail merge ,setting up
masrer document, get data ,set up label I want to use and
merging. When I read her help menu in Word 98, I get the
same instructios I just described above, but when I go to
her tool drop down menu there is no Mail Merge. There is
a merging documents and envelopes and labels indicator. I
tried going in to each one and setting them up but no
where does it ask how I want the label set up and if I
try to merge I just det error reports. I even e-mailed
her data to my machine and performed the operation
flawlessly. Help you IMAC users

Hi Tony,

Mail Merge should be on the Tools menu, just like in the versions you're
accustomed to.

This article applies to Office 2001, but the same general advice applies
(install updates, etc).

tools dropdown list but it's not do you think any updates
to word 98 would put it there

Hi Tony,

Yes, installing the updates and following the suggestions in the link I
posted should fix the problem.

Hi Tony,

I recently had to do the same thing for my wife. She was needing name
tags for her company party. I had to first create a list of names in Excel.
I did 2 columns. The first column I typed "First" in the cell the second
column "Last". Otherwise it leaves off the first name when you merge.
Then in Word, I created a new doc. After this I went under Tools and
opened Data Merge Manager. From here I think you'll be familiar with
the rest. If you don't find Data Merge Manager under Tools it may be
under File. My version at home is slightly different then the version at
work. The only problem I ran into, which I still can't find out why, is as
you scroll through the pages the names from one page begin to appear
in the next page and so on. Hope thishelps.
