Merging Resource Accounts in Project Server 2002

I have a resource whose name has changed. I created another ID for her and then I tried to merge the two accounts and I received the following error:
"microsoft project server cannot merge an enterprise resource account into another account".

Isn't this the whole purpose of this function? I was able to do this in MS Project Central. Am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation of the adminstrative function?

Thanks, Gerald

I think that message is annoying too.

I opened the resource pool in MSP Professional (2002), selected to edit that
resource, changed the person's name, then saved the Resource Pool and Closed
it. The change worked.
